Purchasing a Spa or Jacuzzi Bathtub
Replacing and installing a new spa or jacuzzi is not a small decision, but it’s a great way to create a spa bathroom at home. So if you’re thinking about going that route, there are a few things to consider.
The first is whether you want a freestanding tub, which, as the name suggests, stands alone without attaching to the walls. You could also purchase an alcove tub, which are more common and typically cheaper.
There are all kinds of tubs for both styles, including the old-fashioned clawfoot tub. Installation will go easier if you stick with the same style of tub that’s already in your bathroom, so choose wisely.
Once you decide on a style, think about the layout of your bathroom and the size of tub you want. The most common size of alcove tubs is 60 in. long by 32 in. wide, according to The Home Depot.
You’ll also want to consider tub depth and height. The taller the tub, the more of you can soak in the water. Bigger tubs can also be more expensive to ship or more difficult to install, so keep that in mind before you get your heart set on a certain tub.
